Putting hand cream in hair?

I've heard that putting hand cream in your hair about a half hour before taking a shower ';works wonders.'; Is this true? Also, what exactly does it do and will this damage or change my hair in any ways?


Please include lots of details and maybe even recommend a cream for me to use if you have expirience with this.
