Lotion hand cream on a tattoo?

I got a tattoo on the 18th and they told me to wash it twice a day and to put lotion on it after the first day, so i went to Wall mart and got Lubriderm advanced therapy hand cream that is unscented and helps heal and protect and is 24-hour moisture, non-greasy, and vitamin, nutrient and antioxidant enriched. well the tattoo is all black and is kine of getting this white tent to it so i was wondering if it is ok to keep using it, and if the white tent will go awayLotion hand cream on a tattoo?
after having 6 tattoos, i can tell you to use Curel ultra healing lotion...

used it since my first one and never have had a problem.

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! Wash with lukewarm water and mild, liquid antibacterial or antimicrobial soap. Not Dial its to harsh! Get tattoo goo or H2o(your artist should have had this in their shop, its worth the investment). You do not put any lotion on it till it is healed. You can use A%26amp;D vitamin enriched ointment, but if you don't have any, Bacitracin orpharmacistr antibacterial ointment is acceptable. Sometimes you have Libriumarmacist behind the counter for these...I don't know why? Then use Lubriderm when it is healed.

**Do not use Neosporin. This is a wonderful product for cuts and scrapes, but not for tattoos. Some can have an allergic reaction to the Neosporin, which causes little red bumps. When the bumps go away, so does the ink, and you end up with a polka-dotted tattoo.

Good Luck and never never pick at it!!!
The tattoo place should have given you something to take home, to keep it moisturized. I can't think of the name of the stuff though - sorry.

Do you have any aloe gel? The pure stuff, not a lotion 'with aloe' in it? If so, use it. Put a touch of water/moisture on your skin, just enough to make it damp or dewy feeling, then put the aloe over it. Might help temporarily.

When you get the chance, call the place you got the tattoo from, and ask if they can give you some advice. It's only been a few days and they owe you a little info about the care of it.

Good Luck.
i use unscented lubriderm as well after about 4 or 5 days and have a good amount of ink in me. you're doing fine. there is a point where it can be too moist though, you'll get little pimples in it if you over do it....
i've always just used soap %26amp; antibiotic ointment.

the whiteness is probably old skin-the top layer of skin will flake off with a layer of color.
a white coating is normal and is the way for the tattoo to heal itself.
When I got my tattoo they told me to only use bacatracin ointment. Ask your tattoo artist.
