Is it bad to use hand cream on a puppy?

I have a 6-wk old puppy and we walk on a rough hot sidewalk to the park. When we get home she drinks water and puts her paws in (only the front) into her water. Would it be okay to put hand cream on her paws?Is it bad to use hand cream on a puppy?
Oh, are u serious! OF COURSE NOT! I wouldn't!!!!Is it bad to use hand cream on a puppy?
No Paul because most hand creams contain lanoline which will boil at a certain temperature!!! All this will do is make your puppy's paws very uncomfortable and may cause major and permanent damage to the skin on her pad's! Can i ask you why you're walking your puppy at 6 weeks? That little girl should still be with her mummy!!! She can't have had her shots yet? You are risking losing her to infections if you continue to walk her outside, she's NOT protected Paul, what on earth are you thinking of? Keep her indoors until she's had ALL her shots and if the weather is THAT hot that its burning her pads then only walk her on grass. Incidentally, if the weather is not hot where you are then she's putting her paws in the water because she's been walked too much!!! Keep her in Paul or risk losing her - entirely up to you.
Yes, if she licked the hand lotion then it could be fatal and toxic. If she's got sore paws, I would suggest using Bag Balm which is a nice lubricating gel type stuff farmers used to use on their cows utters to keep them from cracking, and now you can use it on anything and it's not harmful. I use Bag Balm on my dogs pads in the winter when it's dry and they get cracked and it works like a charm and you don't have to do it everyday. Good luck.
Actually there are specially formulated creams made for dogs and if she licks it then it will not cause any harm. A lot of our hand %26amp; body lotions have a purfume in it %26amp; if they dog licks her paws it could cause her to get sick and vomit. Go to your local pet store %26amp; look for Tough-Pads or Protecta-pad both of these will hydrate the paws and keep them from getting so hott. Good luck with those puppy paws :)!
A 6 week old puppy??? 6 weeks, not months???

A 6 week old puppy should not be going off your property, her immunity is not adequate to fight off what's out there.

She needs 3 sets of puppy vaccinations and until then, keep her home in your yard.

I hope this is a typo, you are not even allowed to sell puppies until they are 8 weeks old - a 6 week old needs to be with its mother where it has protection from diseases and comfort from its mom and litter mates.

If you do have a 6 week old pup - keep her home and get her fully vaccinated.
@ 6 weeks of age, she has not had a series of distemper combo vaccines (or Bordetella {kennel cough} or a Rabies vaccine) so it's highly recommended you do not allow her further than your back yard. There are deadly diseases out there that will ';wipe'; a puppy out very quickly and are highly contagious.

She doesn't need lotion, that's not going to keep her feet cool when walking. Try some booties perhaps? But until she's receives her vaccines, please do not walk her...especially to places where other dogs frequent.
her paws are just really hot.

i wouldnt suggest it because

she can have a allergic reaction

and plus you shouldnt be taking

a 6 week old puppy to the park

theres so many diseases she can

catch in which most of them are about 50%

lethal to all young puppies. she should recieve

her last shots at 16 weeks old.
Any human food or care product should never be used on an animal ....go to the pet store and get a jar of Paw Protector I've had mine for 3 yrs and it is only slightly used and I use it in the winter on the pads before out walks ....in the summer for cracking etc....an excellent tool for cats too.....
no its no ok. chemical burns can occur on dogs from some of the stuff in products that dont affect us. Your puppy's pads are still pink and tender and they hurt. Take it a little easier on the walks and let her be on grass too.
She's just enjoying the cool water. Kind of like us taking our shoes and socks off on a hot day or dipping in the pool. There are special pad toughening creams if you really think she needs something, handcream may make her sick.
no, its paws need to be rougher than yours
